My son brought this recipe home after making it in his middle-school cooking class. It’s been an easy weeknight favorite every since.
- ⏲️ Prep time: 10 min
- 🍳 Cook time: 20 min
- 🍽️ Servings: 2-3 servings
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 454g (1 pound) ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups of finely shredded coleslaw mix (or grate cabbage and carrots)
- 250g (9oz) broad egg noodles
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp white vinegar
- 1/4 cup finely sliced green onion
- toasted sesame seeds
Directions
- Boil some salted water in a large pot and cook the egg noodles following package directions. Drain, rinse, and set aside.
- Warm a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the neutral oil and sesame oil.
- Add the ground beef. Cook and chop with a spatula until browned. Spread the beef into a flat layer in the frying pan and let it sit until it starts to char slightly. You want the smell of grilled hamburger.
- Add coleslaw to the frying pan and stir until wilted. Add minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds. Turn the heat down to low.
- Add the cooked noodles to the pan, followed by the oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and white vinegar. Stir to combine and remove from heat.
- Serve hot with sliced green onion and toasted sesame seeds as garnish.
